The Admissions Process

Gesher Jewish Day School welcomes the application of Jewish children from junior kindergarten through eighth grade.

Gesher accepts applicants whom we believe will be successful in our challenging dual program of General and Jewish Studies and who will be supportive of the school mission.

Interested parents are invited to contact the Admissions Office to discuss their child, the admissions process and RSVP to one of our Tour Tuesdays.  There are three formal school tours in the Fall.  The application deadline for new students is January 31, 2018 for the 2018-2019 academic year.  Applications will continue to be accepted as long as space remains available.

It all starts with a visit

Prospective families are encouraged to learn more by visiting our beautiful campus. You are welcome to attend any of our Tour Tuesdays.  Seeing our school in action is the best way to get to know us.

Tours will be held from 9:30 am to 11:00 on:

September 26, 2017
October 24, 2017
November 21, 2017

During a tour you can expect to...
  • Meet and hear from our Head of School and School Principal
  • Hear from teachers and ask questions
  • Visit classrooms and see classes in progress
  • Discuss your child with the Admissions Officer

Apply for Admission

After you have visited our campus, the next step is to submit an application. Complete your application and submit a signed Release of Records form along with $100 non-refundable application fee by the January 31, 2018 due date. Following this date, applications will continue to be considered until the class is full.

Submitting an application means

  • That you have a desire to enroll your child at Gesher Jewish Day School
  • You are providing permission for us to request any standardized testing or academic reports to date from your child’s current school and a Confidential Teacher Recommendation
  • We may request additional outside educational testing

Screening and Visit

After we have received your completed application, you will be contacted to schedule a visit with your child. We will conduct a Kindergarten Readiness screening with your child for kindergarten applicants or a skills screening for applicants for other grades and/or arrange to observe your child in his current program or ours.

Acceptance and Enrollment

Acceptance letters and enrollment contracts are sent in March. The New Student Enrollment Deposit of $500 is applicable to the final tuition payment if received by the due date.

If you have any questions regarding the admissions process please don’t hesitate to contact our Admissions Office at admissions@gesher-jds.org or 703-978-9789.
