After School Activities

Gesher Musical

Gesher showcases our best talent in a student musical production every year. Students in third grade and up audition and attend rehearsals in the fall and spring, culminating in a final production where family and friends are invited. Students also have the opportunity to participate in crew, a behind the scenes role that entails painting sets and designing props under the guidance of a Gesher staff member. Some of our recent shows include Seussical Jr. (2024), Wizard of Oz Jr. (2023), and Mary Poppins Jr. (2022).

Gesher Yearbook

Gesher’s Yearbook program gives students a chance to flex their creative muscles and learn new technological skills. The program helps to create a lasting momento of the school year through the Yearbook. Students involved are involved in theme choices, photo placement, and photo taking. Students also help to promote things like picture day and take back ideas from friends for how to make the yearbook more fun. Students in grades 6-8 are welcome and no prior experience is required.

Gesher Sports

Gesher’s sports program offers our students the chance to learn new or enhance existing skills in specific team sports. The goal of the program is to teach students the value of working as a team while ensuring that they also appreciate the benefits that consistent practice affords. Any student in grades 4-8 in good academic standing is welcome to register for most of our team sports. We welcome everyone from beginners to experienced athletes. Students learn that in addition to providing proper exercise, physical conditioning, and skill-building, team sports also equip them with the tools necessary to navigate life: persistence, patience, empathy, and respect.

Currently, we offer soccer in the fall and basketball in the winter and we also offer flag football in the spring for our students in 6-8 grade. These programs focus on building fundamental skills while improving their knowledge and understanding of the strategies and nuances of each sport. These teams work as a unit to overcome adversity, and always strive to be graceful achievers.

Gesher’s after-school athletics program is a member of the ABC Athletic League of Greater Washington competing against seven other independent schools.
